I'm sure that anyone who happens upon this blog will wonder just what "Black Flower Power" is all about. So, hopefully, this first post will answer that question.
Your resident blogger (that's me) is a thirty-something Black woman who, regrettably, is just a little too young to have lived through the sixties/seventies. Okay, so I did indeed live through the seventies, but my seventies legacy is limited to photos of me wearing crazy-looking bell-bottoms. I still have a penchant for wearing bell-bottom pants, so I'm not really sure how bell-bottoms made there way onto the badfads list.
Black Flower Power is about the strength that comes from combining "Peace and Love" with social consciousness in a multicultural world. It's about sharing my journey, and learning from others when I can. Topics that I will discuss here include: vegetarianism, the environment, "nappy or not", better for us cosmetics, spirituality, and social justice. Trust me, other concerns and interests may find their way into this blog, so don't take that for a finite list. Right now, I am striving to be the person that I know I was meant to be. This blog is part of that goal.
Hopefully, as I master this blogging thing, I will be able to blast out of this blah template into a more aesthetically pleasing site. So, keep your eyes peeled for updates to come.
Just a reminder, I am all "Peace and Love," so while thoughtful, courteous and respecful comments are welcome and appreciated, comments that fall short of these criteria will be unceremoniously deleted.
Welcome to my garden!
